Student Sound Offs

"Even first-year students have classes taught by the best professors in the school -- we don't get shoved off onto graduate students."

"London is not a very exciting city, but the Western campus is full of activities ... There's snowboarding/skiing on University College hill in the winter, so many clubs you can join, programs and groups that further your knowledge on different topics and free drop-in sessions for sports."

"The class sizes are pretty big (up to 800 sometimes) so it's hard to get close and personal with the people around me."

"Since we are such a large institution it is hard for the professors to interact with the students one-on-one. Yet the TAs are very good at that. Also if you find you need the smaller lectures the affiliated colleges might be better for you."

"Career services at UWO have helped me get a total of 13 interviews between my co-op and internship positions via the Faculty of Engineering."

"It's a very happenin' place. There are always people everywhere. It's very green, and the buildings are so nice. There is a lot of diversity so you get used to seeing many different faces (especially since I come from a city that isn't very diverse)."

"A lot of people seem to think that UWO is some crazy party school where anything goes. That isn't the case. Sure we like to have fun and be social, but we also work hard to succeed."

"Love the way the campus looks. Most of the time I feel like I'm studying at a cottage instead of university. There are lots of trees, gardens and squirrels on campus. It's not a bunch of concrete all over the place. It makes it so much more relaxing."

"People perceive our university as the 'country club' of universities and I feel it takes away from our academic reputation. However, there are lots of students who do fit that cast-type, so I don't like the Barbie-and-Ken feel of our university sometimes."
